The trained journalist stood on the surfboard for Norway at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and won bronze in Barcelona in 1992 as a sailor in the Flying Dutchman. For eight years Knut Frostad steered the world's toughest round-the-world regatta as director of the Volvo Ocean Race.
Frostad took up his post as CEO in March 2008 and was responsible for three editions until 2014/15. until 2014/15. Prior to that, he had participated in a VOR four times himself, including two as skipper on Innovation Kvaerner (1997-98) and on Djuice Dragons (2001-02). In his tenure, he has transformed the race into a highly professional event and made key initiated crucial changes such as the VO One design.
