Bachelin's brother Jérémy, who is five years older, started sailing. Maxime followed this path when he was old enough. His talent soon stood out, and in 2020 he became Junior European Champion in the Olympic 49er class.

His next big goal: the 2024 Summer Games in Paris. When Alinghi was looking for new crew, he signed up for trial training sessions on Lake Geneva and in the Mediterranean.

After completing his training as a nurse, he turned down the contract at Lausanne University Hospital and moved to Barcelona.

For the 26-year-old Bachelin, "Alinghi was the sailing team par excellence when I was a child. It's a real honor to sail for them now," says the Vaudois.
